Students Lick Their Way to the Center of a Tootsie Pop
Posted on January 26, 2024It’s the 100th day of school so our Bobcats have been doing activities centered around the number 100.
Debuting in 1970, there is a famous commercial for Tootsie Pops that asks the question: “How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?”
[9s] to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a
[12s] Tootsie Pop? I don't know. I always end up
[15s] biting. Ask Mr. Fox, for he's much clever
[17s] than I. Mr. Fox, how many licks does it
[19s] take to get to the Tootsie Roll center
[21s] of a Tootsie Pop? Why don't you ask Mr.
[26s] Turtle, for he's been around a lot longer
[28s] than I. Me? I bite. Mr. Turtle, how many
[30s] licks does it take to get to the Tootsie
[33s] Roll center of a Tootsie Pop? Never made
[37s] it without biting. Ask Mr. Owl, for he is
[39s] the wisest of us all. Mr. Owl, how many
[42s] licks does it take to get to the Tootsie
[47s] Roll center of a Tootsie Pop? A good
[51s] question. Let's find out. One... two...
[54s] three. Three. If there's anything I can't
[56s] stand, it's a smart owl. How many licks
[59s] does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll
[1m 1s] center of a Tootsie Pop? The world may
[1m 1s] never know.
Inspried by the commercial, students made a prediction on if they thought 100 licks would be enough to get to the center. Then they expirmented to see if they were right!
Students were given work sheets that went up to 100. After each lick they would mark a box to see if they were right.
